‘Snap’ is a new film installation based on the idea of memory recall. As it happens this is a chronological trip through the Japanese landscape. Its not really about what is happening on this trip but the flashes of memory that are evoked by the footage.
A new environment can be so overwhelming that on the surface it feels like a blur.
It asked questions about how we use our minds to remember. Do we actually remember our travels or life events or is it the photographs and films that summon our memory?
My aim in making this short film was to try and replicate my feelings towards the newness and differences of another country and in turn determine which parts are remembered and which parts are triggered by the documentation.
